In my limited experiance of rehearsal it can be a good idea if a video camera is used. Not to block out a shot but to see if a performer is up to the task of putting accross to character, or if he/she is too weak or hammy or...well you get the idea. I have been involve in a couple of production that used a camera in rehearsals, both as actor and behind the camera, and it showed a lot of things that would otherwise have been picked up during shooting, or worse, editing.
